Significa potere , ma anche essere capaci, saper fare e in tal caso esprime abilità. I can run and you can swim. La forma negativa contratta di can è can t, la forma negativa non contratta è cannot. He can t (cannot) play tennis. La forma interrogativa richiede: can + soggetto + forma base del verbo . Can you play the piano? Can può anche essere usato per fare una richiesta o per chiedere un permesso. Can you repeat, please?
