Bikes do not cause pollution and don t take much space to park. You are doing your bit to save the planet. But first you must be safe on your bike. Every year, about 300,000 children go to the hospital because of bike injuries and some die, usually from head injuries. That is why it is so important to wear your bike helmet. A helmet provides some protection for your head in case of accident. Always wear a bike helmet, even if you are going for a short ride. Many bike helmets today are in cool colours. Wearing bright clothes helps other people on the road to see you. Wear the right shoes (trainers) when you cycle and never go riding bare foot! Do not wear headphones because the music can distract you from noises around you. Remember to follow traffic signs. Use bike routes where it is possible and ride single file on the street with friends.
