grammar Il verbo (to) be La forma affermativa di (to) be richiede: forma affermativa nella lingua parlata e nella lingua scritta familiare la forma contratta, cioè abbreviata; nella lingua scritta formale la forma non contratta. La forma interrogativa richiede prima il verbo e poi il soggetto: Are you at school? La forma negativa richiede not dopo il verbo (n t alla forma contratta forma non contratta I m I am you re you are he/she/it s at school he/she/it is at school we re we are you re you are they re they are forma contratta, ad eccezione di I m not): You are not (aren t) English. La short answer, cioè la risposta breve, è necessaria per rispondere affermativamente o negativamente a una domanda. Nella risposta affermativa si usa la forma non contratta: Is she a teacher?
